Nanjing is a mountainous city and a river city. The Yangtze River rolls in for thousands of miles through the east of the city;surrounded by mountains,it looks like a dragon. There is a stone mountain to the west of the city.During the Three Kingdoms, the Soochow built the"Stone City"at risk,so Nanjing got the nickname of the Stone City.It is said that when Zhuge Liang, the prime minister of Shu,went to Soochow,he once discussed the topography of Nanjing on the stone mountain and praised it as"Zhongshan Longpan,Stone City Tiger".Due to this terrain, the capitals of Song,Qi,Liang and Chen from the Eastern Wu,Eastern Jin and Southern Dynasties were established here. Therefore, history is known as"the Golden Powder Land of the Six Dynasties, the Golden Tombs of the Imperial States."
In this famous city in the south of the Yangtze River, the mountains and rivers are beautiful. There are many places of interest. To the east of the city stands the lush Zhongshan Mountain proudly, and at the southern foot of Zhongshan Mountain is the majestic and majestic Zhongshan Mausoleum.Next to it is the ancient thousand-year-old Linggu Temple. There is a stretch of Qingliang Mountain to the west of the city, and there is the famous Qingliang Temple on the mountain and the"Stone City"built along the mountain.Nanjing's water is also good, and Mochou Lake and Xuanwu Lake, known as the first scenic spots in the south of the Yangtze River, have both artificial and natural beauty, just as the verse says:"Lotus flowers on the water are on the willow bank, and half the city's mountains are half the city's lakes."
However, the most impressive thing in Nanjing is often the Yuhuatai in the south of Zhonghua Gate, and the fame of Yuhuatai is due to the use of Yuhuatai stones. These Yuhuatai stones are crystal clear, round and exquisite. The red ones are like agate and the green ones are like jasper.Pick up a few and go home, put them in a flower bowl, and fill them with some water.
It was still in the Liang Dynasty of the Southern Dynasty. There was a monk,Dharma name Yunguang. He had been a monk since childhood and worshiped the Buddha devoutly.Determined to persuade the world to be kind and save the people from disaster,he traveled around and explained the Buddha's teachings. Not long after Buddhism was introduced to China, there were not many believers.Every time Yunguang went to teach the Dharma, there were very few listeners, and Yunguang began to get a little discouraged. One evening, when Yunguang was sitting on the side of the road and sighed,an old woman suddenly appeared in front of him.She gave Yunguang a pair of hemp shoes and told him to wear them to teach the Dharma everywhere.Where the shoes rotted,he could settle down there and often teach Buddhist scriptures. The old lady suddenly disappeared after she finished speaking.Yunguang understood that this must be the Bodhisattva instructing him to teach the Dharma everywhere, and he worked hard.
Yunguang didn't know how many places he had traveled, and the hemp shoes on his feet were always not worn badly. One day,he came to a stone hill in the city of Nanjing, and the hemp shoes suddenly broke. He stopped on the stone hill, formed a good relationship, and began to preach Buddhist scriptures. Not many people began to listen, and after a while, the number of believers grew. One day, when he preached Buddhist scriptures,he spoke very well, and for a while he was moved by the gods.Colorful rain fluttered in the sky.As soon as these raindrops fell to the ground, they became crystalline and round pebbles.Since these pebbles were formed by raindrops falling from the sky, people called them"Yuhua Stones",and the stone hill where Yunguang preached the scriptures was called"Yuhua Terrace".
Friends, when you visit Nanjing, don't forget to go to the Yuhuatai to take a look, and maybe pick up a few cute Yuhuatai stones.
