During the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Ming Dynasty,there was a man named Qin Zhongyue in Shenmu,Shaanxi Province.His experiences were highly legendary,and those of his father were even more so.Qin Zhongyue's father was a hunter(for convenience,hereinafter referred to as Qin Father).Once,Qin Father went hunting in Wulong Mountain and ended up getting lost in the mountains.

All around were sheer cliffs,smooth and towering like knife cuts.There were also the roars of tigers and howls of wolves in the forest.Qin Father was a little panicked and was looking everywhere for a way out.Suddenly,he saw a cave.There was no snow near the cave entrance,and it was very clean.There seemed to be animal footprints as well.Worried that it might be a fierce beast,Qin Father pulled the kudzu vine and climbed higher to continue looking for a way.

Just at this moment,a gust of wind blew from the cave entrance,carrying a fishy smell.Looking intently,a bear suddenly rushed out.Qin Father had no time to react.The bear had already reached him,bit him in one bite,and then returned to the cave.However,this bear did not eat Qin Father.After putting Qin Father down,it went out and lifted a large stone to block the cave entrance.

Qin Father looked around the cave.The cave was very large,about one mu in size.There was a small hole at a higher place on the side,and the light from outside could shine in.Where Qin Father was,there were many feathers of birds and beasts,about an inch thick,so it wasn't uncomfortable.

After looking at the environment,Qin Father began to worry.The bear didn't eat him.Perhaps it was because it had obtained delicious food and went out to find friends to share him together.He wanted to save himself,but the stone at the cave entrance couldn't be moved at all,and the small hole above was too small to get out.

Qin Father was so anxious that he was walking around in circles.At this time,the bear came back.After pushing the stone away,it dragged a deer and threw it in front of Qin Father.It also used its thick bear paw to stroke Qin Father's back,grinning as if it was laughing.Seeing that Qin Father didn't eat,the bear tore off a large piece of deer meat in a few bites and threw it in front of Qin Father,indicating for Qin Father to eat the meat.

Seeing the bear like this,Qin Father knew that it wouldn't eat him,and felt much more at ease.

However,it was not okay not to eat.One couldn't starve to death here.So,Qin Father picked up a pile of dead leaves and branches near the cave entrance and took out the fire starter from his bosom to light the dead leaves and branches.At first,the bear was very scared and made strange sounds.When it saw Qin Father wearing the meat on the branch and roasting it back and forth over the fire,it quieted down.

Soon,the aroma of the roasted meat wafted over,and Qin Father took some of the cooked meat and ate it.

The bear was originally eating raw meat.When it smelled the aroma,it directly snatched the meat from Qin Father's hand and ate it all in one bite without feeling the heat.After eating,the bear obviously felt very good.It happily jumped up and down,nodded vigorously towards Qin Father,and indicated for Qin Father to continue roasting the meat.

Qin Father found more dead branches and started a big fire,roasting all the deer meat.In less than an hour,the entire deer body was eaten up by the bear.After having eaten and drunk to its fill,the bear went to the cave entrance,moved the stone,blocked the cave entrance,and then hugged Qin Father to sleep.

After that,the bear went hunting every day.Before leaving,it would block the cave entrance.When it came back,it would ask Qin Father to roast meat for it to eat.Sometimes the bear would also bring back some rabbits,foxes,wild boars,and even pick some wild fruits for Qin Father to eat.At night,the bear seemed to be afraid that Qin Father would run away and would definitely hold Qin Father to sleep.Although one was a human and the other was a beast,their daily life was just like that of a couple.

Like this,several months passed.One day,the bear suddenly gave birth to a boy.However,this boy had very thick body hair.The body hair from the waist down was thick and developed,just like a hedgehog.

After getting familiar with the bear,Qin Father began to try to communicate with the bear.Three months later,the bear was able to have simple communication,knew some sign language,and could understand Qin Father's words,but very few.After giving birth to the child,the bear nursed every day like a loving mother.Qin Father communicated more with it,so the bear could basically understand Qin Father's words.

Qin Father had gained trust.The bear no longer blocked the cave entrance when going in and out.Qin Father could go out and have a look and gradually knew the surrounding routes.He actually always wanted to escape but couldn't bear to leave the child.

Very soon,four years passed.The child could talk like a human and grew astonishingly fast.His size was like that of a ten-year-old boy,and he was very strong and could walk as fast as flying,unlike an ordinary person.Previously,the bear always took the child with her.Qin Father had no opportunity.Later,when the bear went out to find food and left the child at home,Qin Father took the child and left.

Qin Father carried the child on his back and ran tens of miles until he reached a main road.Seeing several hunters,he asked for directions and returned to his hometown.

During the time when Qin Father was missing,many people thought that he had been eaten by wild beasts in the mountains.This time,when everyone saw him come back,looking like a wild man,they all came to ask him.Qin Father roughly told them about his encounter,and everyone was amazed.Everyone looked at the child he was holding,very strong and powerful like a bear or a tiger,and felt even more astonished,all praising.

From that day on,Qin Father officially gave the child a name,Qin Zhongyue.

Qin Zhongyue missed the bear mother very much at home and wanted to go and look for her several times,but Qin Father did not allow it.Qin Zhongyue could only cry.

A few years later,Qin Zhongyue became even stronger.He was taller than normal people,liked horseback riding and hunting,had superb skills,and had tremendous strength.No one in the nearby several counties was his match.He still wanted to go and look for the bear mother,but his father still did not allow him to go,always saying that he was too young.

Later one day,Qin Zhongyue secretly took the bow,rode the horse and ran far away.He didn't come back until it was night.Qin Father thought that this child must have gone to the mountains to look for his mother.He wanted to take people to look for him,but no one dared to go.Thinking that he was,after all,a child and most likely had been eaten by wild beasts,Qin Father secretly cried.

A few days later,Qin Zhongyue actually carried the bear mother back.Qin Father hurriedly asked him what happened.

It turned out that after Qin Zhongyue went out,he asked others where Wulong Mountain was.After asking for the directions,he went all the way into the mountains.However,he didn't bring any food and could only hunt to satisfy his hunger.Later,he met a woodcutter.The woodcutter said that he knew there was a bear in a certain cave.When Qin Zhongyue arrived,he found that it was indeed the cave he had stayed in before.

It was noon at that time.Qin Zhongyue didn't see the bear mother and went into the cave to wait.When it got dark,the bear mother came back.Seeing someone in the cave,it rushed up to bite.At this time,Qin Zhongyue was extremely strong and quickly subdued the bear mother.He knelt down and kowtowed,crying and telling his identity.To make the bear mother believe him,he undid his clothes.The hair from the waist to the legs was quite thick.

Only then did the bear mother believe that he was her child.She hugged Qin Zhongyue and actually cried.

Qin Zhongyue cried and asked the bear mother to leave the mountains,saying that he could support her and ensure her safety,etc.,but the bear mother was not willing.Qin Zhongyue knelt there and begged for several days.Only then did the bear mother agree to him.So,Qin Zhongyue carried the bear mother on his back and walked for hundreds of miles before finally arriving home.

After Qin Zhongyue finished telling his story,the bear mother directly rushed to Qin Father.Qin Father knelt down and kowtowed,apologizing to her,saying that he did not want to spend his entire life in the mountains and that the son needed to live a normal life among humans.Qin Zhongyue also knelt down and kowtowed,pleading with the bear mother.Finally,the bear mother was not angry anymore.

At this time,Qin Father called his wife out and let her meet the bear mother.The wife was a little scared.Surprisingly,the bear mother,like a human,crossed her hands and saluted.This was all taught to her by Qin Father before.There were already people crowded around,watching the bear mother from a distance.

At this time,Qin Zhongyue was only twelve years old.

In the second year of Emperor Yingzong's Tianshun reign of the Ming Dynasty,Bolai of the Northern Yuan led 10,000 soldiers to attack Shenmu.Qin Zhongyue gathered 500 local braves and defended against Bolai in Dingbian.Due to Qin Zhongyue's unparalleled bravery,he led his subordinates to defeat Bolai and pursued him all the way to the Hetao region,and managed to capture Bolai alive.The commander-in-chief commended his achievements and awarded him the position of Participating generals of Yulin.

In the first year of Emperor Xiaozong's Hongzhi reign of the Ming Dynasty,Huosai led his troops to invade the border of the Great Ming.Qin Zhongyue led his troops to defeat the enemy forces and killed Huosai.The imperial court promoted Qin Zhongyue to Left Commander Tongzhi and made the position hereditary.The emperor personally awarded Qin Zhongyue,and Qin Zhongyue incidentally requested an imperial edict of honor(an honorary recognition from the ancient emperor for the family members of meritorious officials,usually for the mother or wife)for the bear mother.The emperor agreed.

On the day the imperial edict arrived,Qin Zhongyue pulled the bear mother out.The bear mother put on the official dress(similar to a formal dress,with different grades and ranks of nobility).She thanked the envoy and was no different from an ordinary person,except that the bear mother could not speak or kneel.

Later,the empress dowager heard about the matter of the bear mother and personally visited the Qin family and bestowed the title of"Bear Lady"(Lady is the title given to the mother of an official in the feudal era,such as County Lady or County Mistress.It's different from the"Taijun"in Japan!).From then on,when people saw the bear mother,they called her"Mrs.Bear".

Personal sentiment:After reading this story,at first,I thought it was just for fun.But upon careful consideration,there are actually some reasons.The bear gave birth to a child and had feelings for the child and for humans.Although it was an animal,it did not only have animal nature.It also had human nature.

As long as one can get along with the bear with heart and communicate,human nature will unconsciously influence the animal nature and suppress it.The inner demon will also disappear.If there is no inner demon and no animal nature,what's the difference between a bear and a human?Such a bear is much better than some guys with human faces but beastly hearts.
