Once upon a time, there was a poor man named Li San, who had been a servant in Wang Yuanwai's house since he was a child, and worked hard every day. When he saw Wang Yuanwai's children, all of whom were well educated, dressed, and ate well, he was very envious and sentimental in his heart. They are all human beings, but I live a poor life. God is so unfair! Li San dreams of becoming a millionaire every day, but his days are the same as in the past, and nothing has changed. Every day at noon, Li San delivers lunch to the young master in the private school. Every time he passes by the Temple of the City God, he puts his hands together and prays to God devoutly: "City God, please grant me wealth so that I can live a good life like the children of Wang Yuanwai."

On this day, because of the sultry weather, on the way home from lunch, Li San walked into the temple as usual, and after that, he leaned on the incense table to rest, and fell asleep without realizing it. In his dream, Li San saw the Lord of the City. He gently said to Li San, "Li San, you pass by here every day and come in to ask for wealth. For three years, you have never stopped. In order to praise your spirit, I want to guide you to seek wealth." Really? "Li San asked excitedly," Where is the wealth?" The wealth is in the golden valley. Tomorrow morning, you will go east and find a valley full of gold. As long as you choose a high hill to dig down, you can see yellow blocks and gold bricks. Don't be greedy for too much, only take three gold bricks, you know? "Yes!"  Li San promised.

Li San woke up from a dream, with mixed doubts and beliefs, and decided to go to the Golden Valley tomorrow morning to try his luck. Early the next morning, Li San asked for leave from the staff and went on his way. After walking all day, seeing that it was getting dark, he saw a valley. Li San walked into the valley, and sure enough, he saw a rising piece of land, and he immediately started digging. After a while, the iron made a crashing sound, and he pushed away the sand, only to see a cylinder of gold bricks shining in the setting sun. "My God..."  He was almost dumbfounded, and then he took out the gold bricks desperately. Although he thought of the City God's order to take three gold bricks one by one and not to take more, he was already carried away by greed and wanted to move all the gold home.

"Hahaha... I don't have to worry about food and clothing in this life. I can enjoy it for the rest of my life!" Li San held the heavy gold nuggets in both hands and was about to go back. Suddenly, the wind and rain raged, the banks of the river collapsed, and the water flowed into the valley, which soon flooded to his ankles. Seeing that the water rose quickly, Li San threw the gold bricks back to their original place in a panic and immediately escaped from the Golden Valley. After the wind and rain stopped and the water disappeared, Li San immediately returned to the Golden Valley, ready to pick up the gold bricks. However, no matter how he searched the whole valley, except for the soil, he could no longer see the golden bricks.
