During the Qin Dynasty, there was often a flood near the Chengdu Plain in Sichuan. King Zhao of Qin appointed Li Bing, who was very talented in water control, as prefect of Shu County and presided over management of the flood there.

It turns out that there is a Jiang God in the Minjiang River, an evil dragon that does many things. If it is a little unhappy, it will make waves, rain heavily, flood crops and villages on both sides, and harm the people. It requires the local people to choose the most beautiful virgin to be his daughter-in-law on June 23rd every year, and every household gathers huge sums of money to hold a lively wedding for him. If there is any failure of his will, he will send a flood to endanger the people. The local people panic every year because of the wedding to the Jiang God. They are afraid that their daughter will be mutilated by the Jiang God, and they cannot afford the cost of the wedding to the Jiang God. In order to escape the tragic persecution of the river god, many people had to drag their children and daughters away from their hometowns, which caused the land in the Minjiang River area to gradually become desolate and the population to become much less.

Soon after Li Bing arrived in Shu County, he found out about the situation here and decided to take care of this evil dragon at the cost of his own life.

Seeing that the day of marrying a daughter-in-law to Jiang Shen once a year was coming again. When the people who organized the marriage for Jiang Shen were discussing how to raise money for Jiang Shen and who to choose, Li Bing found them and said to these people, "There is no need to raise money this year. The bride will choose my little girl, and the matter will be settled like this. Don't bother anymore." When people heard that Li Bing was so generous to others, they were all grateful and worried about Li Bing. They were worried that something would happen to Li Bing, and they didn't want to lose such a good princess. They all hoped that their princess could defeat this evil dragon and eliminate the disaster.

On June 23rd, Li Bing dressed up his daughter and came to the riverside together. After the chief sacrificial person boarded the altar of sacrificing the river, the gongs and drums soared into the sky and the bells rang in unison. After the three drums, waves suddenly surged on the river surface, and the water column soared to the sky more than ten meters high. This is the ceremony for Jiang Shen to welcome the bride. At this time, people should have sent the bride into the water. However, Li Bing quickly stopped them and said, "Don't worry. It is a great honor for me to be able to marry Jiang Shen this time. However, I, Li Bing, would like be able to see the dignity of Jiang Shen first. Please show up as soon as possible. Don't miss this good time." After saying that, he filled a glass of wine in person and walked up to the altar to offer it.

But after a long time, there was no sign of Jiang Shen. Seeing such a scene, Li Bing knew that Jiang Shen was teasing the people, so he couldn't help but get angry and said, "You evil dragon, you are killing the people, causing the people to struggle. Today, in order to enable the people to live and work in peace and contentment, I, Li, am willing to fight with your life, so hurry up and show yourself!" Saying that, he picked up his sword and jumped into the river. At this time, the water column on the river disappeared, as if it had become calm, but he faintly felt that the earth was shaking.

After about an hour, the wind was strong, the sun was covered in smoke, and in a trance, people saw two blue and black rhinos fighting desperately by the river, and it was very difficult to tell them apart. After a while, the two rhinos disappeared. When the people watching the battle on the shore wondered, they saw Li Bing running up from the water panting. He said to his entourage of warriors, "This evil dragon is very capable, especially strong, and I can't win after fighting him for a long time. Now I'm coming ashore to ask you to help me."

Li Bing's samurai said, "We saw two rhinos fighting by the river just now. We know that you and the evil dragon are fighting fiercely, but the two rhinos are exactly the same. We can't tell which one is your change, so it's not easy to help." Li Bing then wrapped a snow-white ribbon around his waist and said to them, "Now I have a white ribbon around my waist, so when I go to fight with it again, the white rhinoceros around my waist is changed by me, just remember this." After saying that, he jumped into the water to fight with the evil dragon again. In this way, when the two rhinoceros appeared again, Li Bing's samurai held weapons one by one and rushed forward to help Li Bing fight together. These samurai took the weapons in their hands and stabbed the rhinoceros that had not white on its body for a while, and finally killed the rhinoceros and turned into an evil dragon on the ground.

After the evil dragon fell to the ground, it quickly showed its true form. Li Bing hurriedly ordered the people to tie up the thick iron chain that had been prepared and lock the evil dragon firmly in a deep pool in the river.

However, when Li Bing locked the evil dragon with an iron chain, someone around him was worried that he would not be able to lock it, so he asked Li Bing, "Lord Li, will the evil dragon escape?" Li Bing casually said, "If he wants to escape, he will only bloom in the iron tree!" But it was too coincidental. Later, a few children bathed in the pool where Li Bing locked the evil dragon, and a naughty child hung his red hat on the iron pillar that locked the evil dragon. From a distance, it looked like an iron tree blossoming. So the evil dragon seized this opportunity, broke free of the iron chain, and fled into the water to make trouble.

Li Bing and his son Erlang soon found out about this, and with the help of the people, they once again trapped the evil dragon and took it back to the Flong Pool to lock it up. To prevent it from breaking the chain again, Li Bing mobilized the people to build a dragon-locking bridge next to the Flong Pool. In this way, the evil dragon was completely locked up and never escaped. The local people are no longer harmed by the flood.

In the following years, Li Bingshuang led the people of Shu to build many water conservancy projects such as Fenshui Yuzui, King Kong Dike, Feisha Weir, Flat Trough, etc. in the area under Yulei Mountain in the south of Guanxian County. These water conservancy projects are collectively referred to as Dujiangyan. This great water conservancy project built by Li Bing not only fundamentally cured the flood, but also turned the flood into a blessing. This water conservancy project irrigated 10,000 acres of fertile land, and was used by the people of Shu for generations. From then on Shu County was fertile and rich, and was called the "Land of Abundance." Li Bing was also honored by future generations as "Chuanzu" and was loved and respected by generations of Shu people.

In order to further commemorate Li Bing, descendants built a temple in the place where Li Bing subdued the evil dragon and named it Fulong Temple. After entering the temple, they looked up and saw a stone statue of Li Bing. He was imposing, his beard fluttered slightly, and his deep eyes revealed a kind of ambition and talent. This extraordinary temperament shocked people!
