Life is like climbing a hundred mountains

On May 10, 1996, Gao Minghe, a mountaineer from Taiwan, finally climbed Mount Everest. Standing on the summit, he looked around at the magnificent mountains and rivers and picturesque scenery. He was so excited that he kept pressing the shutter of the camera with his trembling hands. On the way down the mountain, the group encountered a sudden snowstorm, and eight mountaineering heroes were unfortunately killed. With amazing perseverance, Gao Minghe struggled with cold, hunger, and lack of oxygen for a night, and finally passed by the god of death.

Due to the long freeze, Gao Minghe's body muscle tissue was frozen, and he had to accept a cruel truth: he had to remove the parts of the muscle necrosis, including ten fingers, ten toes, two heels and nose. Fifteen operations to "cut bones and dig meat" are enough to destroy a person's tolerance, but Gao Minghe faced it tenaciously and calmly. In his eyes, these are insignificant compared to the challenge of life on the top of Mount Everest. However, a bigger life challenge awaits him.

When the gauze wrapped around his hands and feet was gently unwrapped by the doctor, and the weird hands and feet without fingers and toes came into view, Gao Minghe did not feel sad. Compared with the precious life, what is the loss of these? However, when he habitually wanted to pick up a cup to drink water and get out of bed to move, he found that he could not do these simple actions at all, and he became a "useless person" lying on the bed to be cared for and unable to move an inch! This was a fatal blow to Gao Minghe, who was stubborn by nature. He was utterly disillusioned and almost sank completely. One day, he suddenly thought of the unfinished plan and couldn't help but be shocked. It was his lifelong dream, how could he give up halfway? So life once again had the motivation to start, he cheered up and re-planned for the future. Learning to walk was the first thing to be solved. This five-foot boy, like a half-year-old toddler, bent his waist and crawled to the ground. After learning to crawl, he practiced standing and walking step by step like a normal person. Next, he practiced washing his face with his mutilated palm, brushing his teeth, eating, writing, driving, operating the camera and computer. Every little progress made him feel more fulfilled than climbing Mount Everest. In front of this powerhouse, all difficulties were stepped on the soles of his feet. After more than two years of rehabilitation training, Gao Minghe could finally live like a normal person. He knew that it was time to continue to complete that plan.

In 1991, Gao Minghe walked into Tibet for the first time. Looking at the majestic mountains and plateaus, he was deeply shocked, so he made a ambition to personally climb 100 mountains in China and record the beauty of China's mountains with a camera. This is the filming plan for "China's Hundred Mountains." The accident in 1996 derailed his plan. As his body gradually recovered, Gao Minghe began his second climb in life. For more than a decade, he has traveled all over Yunnan, Qinghai, Tibet, Xinjiang, Sichuan and other places. He measured the dream map in his heart with his footsteps and recorded the beauty of China's Hundred Mountains with photos. He wants more people to see his deep dialogue with China's mountains.

The disability of the body makes the climbing speed much slower than before. But Gao Minghe never gave up chasing his dream. At present, the shooting plan of "China Hundred Mountains" has been completed 62, and he will continue to walk unswervingly for the rest of the way. At the age of 63, he is like an ordinary elder, with white hair and a warm and kind smile on his face. He said: "In life, you only need to do one meaningful thing. Although I have regrets in my life, I have put my dreams into action, so my life will be bright from now on."
