It is said that Lv Dongbin, one of the eight immortals, is known as Chunyangzi, and is said to be a person of Tang Jingzhao. In Huichang, he was a scholar in two strokes, and wandered around the rivers and lakes, and was taught the Dan Art by the Han Zhongli, and became immortal. He once lived in seclusion in Zhongnan Mountain for practice, and later traveled all over the world. In his legends, in addition to the Jianghuai Jiaojiao, Yueyang Nonghe, drunk in the inn, etc., there is also the saying of playing peony flower immortals.

Legend has it that Lv Dongbin traveled the world, came to the beautiful mountains, and the nine peaks returned, known as Tongbai Mountain in Jinting Dongtian, and found that the earth shook, the houses collapsed, and the nine peaks were about to collapse. He took a closer look and found that it was a pangolin at work.

Annoyed, Lv Dongbin quickly summoned all the mountain gods to discuss a plan to capture the pangolin and save the people. The mountain gods said one after another, "This monster has 5,000 years of Taoism and has refined the art of overturning mountains and overturning seas. We can't defeat it. Hope the Great Immortal will report to the Jade Emperor, and quickly send heavenly soldiers and heavenly generals to capture this monster, save the people, and protect the mountains and forests."

 Lv Dongbin smiled and said, "A small pangolin is acting like a monster, there is no need to alarm the heavenly soldiers and heavenly generals, I can subdue it alone." The mountain gods thanked him and left together.

After the mountain gods left, Lu Dongbin thought to himself, "This monster spell is powerful, how can I subdue it? It was also me who said big words for a while, if I don't suppress this demon, won't the mountain gods laugh at me!

While Lu Dongbin was meditating, Taibai Jinxing said to Lu Dongbin: "If you want to subdue the pangolin, you must use the mountain-fixing needle. This needle is a jade hairpin on the head of the Queen Mother. If you can borrow it, you can succeed immediately." Lu Dongbin said: "How can you do that? The jade hairpin is the beloved of the Queen Mother, and I am afraid that no one can borrow it." Taibai Jinxing said: "This is not difficult. The Queen Mother has a personal maid by her side - the Peony Fairy. She has long been thinking about it. If you can move her heart, this will definitely be done."

The next day, the Queen Mother held a peach feast at the Western Sky Yaotai, inviting all the great immortals to the banquet. Lv Dongbin and Taibai Jinxing rode up like clouds and went to the peach party together.

At the peach party, the sound of the piano was melodious and the dance was danceable. All the immortals drank freely. After three rounds of wine and five dishes, the Queen Mother ordered the maid, the Peony Fairy, to pour wine for all the immortals. When the Peony Fairy poured wine for Lu Dongbin, Taibai Jinxing touched Lu Dongbin with his arm. Lu Dongbin knew this, so he took the opportunity to take the wine glass and gently pinched the Peony Fairy's hand. The Peony Fairy's heart moved, her face turned red, and she lowered her head and retreated.

After a while, the Queen Mother ordered the Peony Fairy to give a peach to the Great Immortal. The Peony Fairy came to Lu Dongbin hesitantly. Dabai Jinxing kicked Lu Dongbin with his toes, and when Lu Dongbin took the peach, he pressed the peach plate down heavily, and the Peony Fairy's wrist was soft, and her face was as ashamed as peach blossoms. She lowered her head and hurried down the back door to the edge of the Jade Pool. Lu Dongbin followed closely.

The Peony Fairy walked straight to the edge of the Jade Pool and stared at the open peony flowers beside the pool, lost in thought.  Lv Dongbin stood quietly behind the Peony Fairy and said softly, "Peony Fairy, are you enjoying the flowers?"

The Peony Fairy looked back and saw that it was Lu Dongbin. She hurriedly covered her face with her sleeves and said, "You, do you know the Xiaoxian rules?"

Lu Dongbin smiled and said, "Not only do I know immortal rules, but I can also read your mind."

The Peony Fairy shook her head. Lu Dongbin took a few steps forward and said, "You are very envious of the world, aren't you?" The Peony Fairy lowered her head slowly again. Lu Dongbin said emotionally: "The world is so beautiful, the mountains and rivers are beautiful everywhere, and the birds and flowers are fragrant. I have traveled all over the world, and I have seen many famous mountains and rivers, scenery and gardens, such as Suzhou and Hangzhou, Mount Tai, Punggan Fairyland, Caozhou Peony... It is really beautiful, ten times better than heaven"

The Peony Fairy slowly raised her head and said softly, "Really?" Lu Dongbin pointed with his hand and said, "Peony Fairy, look over there, there is a young couple who are happily plowing and planting. Look over there, there is a couple of lovers enjoying flowers in the garden." Lu Dongbin looked back and saw that the Peony Fairy was still standing there looking at the lovers, so he said, "Peony Fairy, if you don't enjoy the happiness of the world, it will be the greatest pity."

The Peony Fairy said hesitantly, "If you want to go to earth, it's easier said than done. The immortal rules are so strict, how can you get your wish?"

Lu Dongbin smiled slightly: "Peony Fairy, if you have this intention, I am willing to help."

The Peony Fairy blushed and said shyly, "Is it true?"

Lu Dongbin said, "Really. However, I also want to ask you a favor."

The Peony Fairy said, "What can I do for you?"

"Lend me the jade hairpin on the head of the Queen Mother."

"Oh, how can that be? The hosta is the beloved of the Queen Mother, and no one can borrow it.""" The Peony Fairy said embarrassedly.

Lu Dongbin took a few steps forward and said, "Please look here!" Through the clouds, the Peony Fairy saw the Tongbai Mountain area, where houses collapsed, men cried and women howled, a sad scene.

The Peony Fairy hurriedly closed her eyes and said, "Oh, the people are so pitiful."

Lu Dongbin said, "This area of Tongbai Mountain used to have beautiful mountains and rivers and abundant grain. It was only because of this pangolin's mischief that this place became such a miserable scene! I want to borrow the queen mother's jade hairpin to get rid of this pangolin."

The Peony Fairy said anxiously, "I would like to help, but--"

Lu Dongbin was overjoyed when he saw that the Peony Fairy agreed to help. He gave the fake jade hairpin to the Peony Fairy.

The next morning, after the Queen Mother had finished bathing and asked the Peony Fairy to comb her hair, the Peony Fairy took the opportunity to steal the hosta, hide it in her sleeve, and hand it over to Lu Dongbin.

Lv Dongbin brought the Dingshan Needle to Tongbai Mountain and quickly captured the evil pangolin.

After Lu Dongbin punished the pangolin, he and Taibai Jinxing rushed to the West Sky Yaotai to return the Dingshan Shenzhen, and asked the Queen Mother to forgive the Peony Fairy for stealing the hosta.

The Queen Mother learned that she was both happy, surprised and angry. Although she should be rewarded for eliminating harm for the people, the Peony Fairy is always by her side, and she has no dignity in her eyes, which is unbearable! Seeing the two immortals intercede, the Queen Mother said: "For the sake of the two immortals, the Peony will not die, but will be driven out of the western sky and reduced to ordinary people!"

In this way, the people of Tongbai Mountain lived a life of peace and contentment, and the Peony Fairy also realized her wish to yearn for the world.

Later, in order to miss Lv Dongbin, people also regarded Lv Dongbin's play of peonies as beautiful talk until today.
