Outside Chaotianmen in Chongqing, in the Yangtze River at the foot of Tushan Mountain on the south bank, there is a huge Hugui stone.
Legend has it that there was a great flood in ancient times. At that time, the sky was connected to water, and the water was connected to the sky, and there was a sea of water. Crops were submerged, and houses collapsed. The people who were hiding on the top of the mountain cried for help day and night, and cried out to the emperor, begging to repel the flood and save them from death. People finally touched a god named Gun. After he got the "soil" that the emperor treasured, with the help of birds and turtles, he drove back the flood and saved the people.
When the Heavenly Emperor found out about this, he was angry and ordered his courtier Zhu Rong to kill Gun. He took back the soil, and the earth was flooded again. Although Gun was killed by the cruel Heavenly Emperor, his heart that loved people and insisted on justice did not cool down, and finally became his son Dayu. Dayu descended from the sky to the world and arrived in Jiangzhou (now Chongqing). He met the female slave of Jiuwei Gugu in Tushan, and the two fell in love and got married. On this day, it was the fourth day after Dayu got married. He came to Phoenix Mountain to check on the water conditions. The water god made waves, and the Yangtze River was turbulent. I saw a white-haired old man leading a girl, walking with difficulty, the girl pointed to a peach tree and shouted, "Grandpa, I'm hungry, pick some peaches for me to eat!" The old man staggered forward, and just as he was climbing the peach tree, a bad wave rushed over and washed away the old and young… When Dayu saw this scene, he had a lot of thoughts and thought: If this goes on, how many families will be swallowed up by the flood! So he decided to lead the flood in the world into the sea. Worried, he quickly turned around and went home, and confided his ideal to Tu Shannu: "Shannu, I want to go far away to dredge the nine rivers, are you willing to let me go?"
The mountain girl was reluctant to part, but she still sent Dayu down the mountain. From Lotus Mountain to the current Juelin Temple and Xuantan Temple, all the way to the beach by the river. I saw Dayu transform into a rhinoceros with a single horn on his head, pointed like a sharp blade. Then down the river, poke the rock to build the mountain and shovel the silt into the soil. After Dayu left, the mountain girl stood under the stone slope every day, looking at the direction where Dayu went, crying non-stop...
Time flies, and Dayu has been away for three years. It was already dusk, and Dayu returned to the foot of Tushan Mountain, looked at the door of his house, and saw a bright light shot out of the cave. Ah, the mountain girl is still waiting for me! As he walked ashore, he heard the loud sound of the river beating against the rocks. Looking back, the place upstream had been dredged, and the water was flowing happily; but the flood downstream still covered the sky. Dayu's heart trembled: The river is not fully dredged, how can I go home? So he turned into a rhinoceros again and jumped into the rolling flood.
As soon as Dayu left, Tu Shan Nu felt strange: Why, the roaring river has become so calm? She ran out of the hole and stood on the hillside to look out, only to see a rhino poking rocks downstream. She understood: this is her husband! Tu Shan Nu stood on the stone by the river and shouted affectionately, "Yu Come back soon!"
Three years later, Dayu completely levelled flood of the Yangtze River. He also arrived in what is now Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province. Then, with a happy mood, he returned to the foot of Tushan for the second time, only to see the lights still on in the cave and hear the song of yearning. Dayu couldn't help but quicken his pace. However, when he approached his door, a gust of mountain wind blew and said to Dayu, "Dayu, do you know that your water control has reached the heavenly court. The emperor ordered the mountain spirit and water monster to move to a witch mountain, and blocked the Yangtze River again. Go and unclog it!" Dayu was full of anger at this time: "Hateful Heavenly Emperor! No matter how you move thousands of mountains and mountains, you can't stop me, Dayu Shuhe." He turned around and left home without hesitation.
The mountain girl heard the familiar footsteps coming from outside the cave and hurriedly went out to visit, what happened? The footsteps turned into a loud sound of the arch mountain piercing through the rock. The mountain girl ran to the place where she had called Dayu before. Strange to say, the slope of the stone was higher than before. It turned out that the deep affection of the mountain girl missing Dayu moved the Dragon King, and the Dragon King sent the turtle to squat there so that the mountain girl could climb up and look into the distance.
One day after this, when Tu Shan Nu was resting in the field, she stood on the slope as usual, put on a pergola with her hands, stared at the river flow in the distance with wide eyes, and missed her relatives: Yu, the Yangtze River is smooth, you should have come back long ago. Suddenly, I saw a person walking far away. Tall man, broad shoulders, thin face, two thick black sword eyebrows, flashing a pair of wise eyes. Ah! This is no one else, it is her Dayu! Tu Shan Nu was overjoyed when she saw her husband's return. She pulled Dayu and said, "I finally waited for you to come back, go home quickly!" "No, there are still Luohe, Fenhe, Weihe, Huai rivers that have not been dredged, and people are still suffering!" You see, the rocks have worn out thick calluses on your hands, you are too tired. "" Isn't my body very strong? "" Your clothes are torn and should be mended; your straw shoes are rotten, and it is time to change a pair. "" Alas, time is precious! "Dayu stroked the shoulder of the mountain girl, and then said: The flood is uneven, and I will never go home. "
Dayu comforted his wife a few words and left without looking back.
Tu Shannu pursued Da Yu and gradually lost sight of his shadow. She stood by the river and saw a rhinoceros breaking through the waves in the heart of the river. Tu Shannu shouted loudly: "Yu, I will stand here waiting for you for a lifetime!"
Really, the Tu Shan girl waited and waited, for nine hundred and ninety-nine days, shouting every day: "Yu, you are back!" After a long time, the Tu Shan girl turned into a stone. The stone still leaves spots, like the long hair of the mountain girl, drifting in the river, and the waves washed her body. The rushing river shouted for the mountain girl day and night: 'Yu - return - come!"
