Jiangdu County (Jiangdu County, Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, where Jiangdu Pumping Station is located. It is located in the middle of the province, bordering the Yangtze River in the south, Shaobo Lake and Li Canal in the west, and the new and old Tongyang Yunhe runs through the east and west). The origin of the old Fairy Temple is related to the two female Taoists who developed a practice at the Holy Mother Temple in Dongling. It was originally called Caijiazhuang.
According to legend, in the year of the Eastern Han Dynasty, there was a great disaster in the sky, and a black dragon came to the East China Sea, causing monsters to act here. It rained heavily, the river swelled, and the flood submerged crops and houses, causing the people to suffer unspeakably. I didn't want the black dragon to leave, and the god of plague arrived again, and the whole village was vomiting and dying. At this moment, a white dragon appeared in the sky, holding its head high and moving, at least killing the black dragon. The two dragons killed from the sky into the water, and the sky was dark, and the white water was surging. After a few hours of fighting, the black dragon could not resist the enemy and fled in embarrassment. At this time, the clouds and fog dissipated in the sky, and the water retreated along the river to the Yangtze River, and the people who were submerged in the water were saved. It was at this time that a yellow crane flew from the sky, carrying a herb in its mouth and falling. After a while, the white dragon and the yellow crane disappeared, and two girls in Taoist costumes appeared in front of the people. It turned out that they were Du Jiang and Kang Zixia, the female monks who led the practice in the Temple of Our Lady of Dongling. The two girls boiled two large pots of soup of the herbs they found and delivered them to every household. Strange to say, there is nothing but medicine for illness.
When the magistrate heard this, he wanted two beautiful girls to marry his two sons, but the girls refused. The magistrate became angry and threw them into prison, wanting to kill them. When the people heard this, they pleaded with the magistrate one after another. Just then, the two girls turned into two white dragons and flew into the sky from the memory window, driving away with two colorful clouds. To thank the two fairies for their kindness, a temple was built by the river to worship the two fairies. From then on, Caijiazhuang was converted into a fairy temple.
Another legend says that at the end of the Northern Song Dynasty, Zhao Gou's father and brother were captured by the Jin people, and General Han Shizhong fled with his soldiers and horses to protect Zhao Gounan. When he walked to the area of Jinjiangdu Town, he was blocked by the river, and the Han soldiers were eager to take a boat to cross the river. Suddenly, a girl appeared in front of them. Han Bing asked the girl urgently if there was a ferry, and the girl replied unhurriedly: "There is no boat, but there is a poem to send: 'It is useless to raise soldiers to eat food, and the people of Li have suffered. If you really want to be a hero, go back to the horse and raise your gun.' Han Bing only felt ashamed, then turned his horse's head, killed the enemy with a gun, and returned with a big victory. Han Bing turned back to find the girl again, and the girl had ridden the clouds and soared away. Later, in order to commemorate this girl, the locals specially built a temple to worship, which was called the "Fairy Temple".
Although the legends all bear the imprint of that era, they express the kindness of the people of Jiangdu from different aspects, their spiritual years and their yearning for a better life.
The temples of the Fairy Temple have been repaired from generation to generation, and the temples rebuilt during the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty are the most magnificent. The temple has a front hall, a middle hall, and a back hall. The main entrance to the front hall is made of alum, which is about two meters high and 70 cm wide. It is engraved with large letters "Royal Seal Ancient Fairy Temple". The "Royal Seal" is red, the rest is blue, and the surrounding area is lightly engraved with dragon patterns. There is a stage in the temple. In the hanging basket in the middle hall is the document sealed by the emperor. The back hall is the Fairy Empress Hall. There is an incense table in the temple. The wooden shrine on the water-milled blue brick shrine is carefully carved, and two fairy statues stand inside. The east wall is embedded with a stone tablet that records the history of the temple. In the late Qing Dynasty, the temple became increasingly desolate and unrepaired, leaving only poems and poems by scholars expressing the feeling of "Mili Li". The most famous of these is the poem of the Qing Dynasty's Li Tingfang:
A boat of smoke waves long post road, immortal pavilion white clouds fragrance.
The valiant wind is refreshing and the flags are solemn, and the good air is dense with the fragrance of grass and trees.
Yuanxiu still left the old snail, and Yu Xia wanted to paint clothes.
Cai Luan flew away without news, the river water was leisurely and the river moon was cool.
