Once upon a time, there was an old woman who lived alone in a small wooden house. She opened a small garden in front of the house and planted all kinds of flowers and plants. The flowers in the garden were blooming all year round, and walking around the garden became something the old woman had to do every day.
One morning, the old woman got up early as usual. The first thing she did was open the window and look at her lovely flowers. She was stunned by the scene in front of her. The flowers and plants that were still fine yesterday were trampled to pieces, and the old woman was very sad. She rearranged the garden and replanted some roses and lilies. Unexpectedly, the same thing happened again the next day. This time the old woman was angry, and vowed to find the culprit.
She worked in the garden again. When it was dark, and the moon came over the fence, the old woman lay under the window and peeked. A little giant came into the garden and made a mess in three or five strokes. The old woman was so angry that she grabbed the broom and rushed out: "Ah - I'm going to fight you!" The little giant heard the shout and ran away in a flash. The old woman had to sit on the ground and cry, and when she was tired of crying, she went back to sleep alone.
The next day, the old woman woke up without any energy at all. She felt that God was unfair to her. She habitually pushed open the window, and something strange happened. The garden that had been destroyed last night was restored to its original state, and the flowers were blooming even more beautifully. "What-- what's going on?" She opened the door and was about to step out. What was even stranger was that there was a bamboo basket at the door, with bread and milk in it. "This is incredible." The same thing happened several days in a row. The old woman wanted to find out, and at night she lay under the window and waited. The moonlight shone on the garden, and a black shadow got in, put down a bamboo basket, and left. The old woman couldn't believe her eyes. This black shadow was the little giant who destroyed the garden a few days ago!
The old woman ate the breakfast brought by the little giant in the morning, and the resentment in her heart was long gone. She noticed that the little giant, although tall, was a minor child last night. She decided to do something for him. In the dead of night, the little giant came again. He put his breakfast on the steps of the house, and just as he was about to leave, he found a new swing installed in the garden. The little giant was so happy that he swung and swung, the wind played with him, the stars winking at him, and the flowers nodded and smiled at him. Then the old woman came out and said to him kindly, "Did the child have a good time? Where did you come from?" The little giant told the old woman that he was an orphan in the country of giants, and that no one had loved him since he was a child. He always wanted to do something to make others pay attention to him, so he fell in love with his garden.
At first, he was quite proud, but when he saw the old woman crying very sadly, he realized his fault, so he thought of this way to make up for it. "I'm sorry, please forgive me," said the little giant sincerely. The old woman forgave him. From then on, the old woman accompanied the little giant on the swing every day, told stories, and lived happily as a family member.
