Showing the New Year during the Spring Festival, why should we keep the New Year?

On New Year's Eve, the family lights up and stays up late, resigns from the old year, and welcomes the new year, commonly known as keeping the New Year. There are many activities in keeping the New Year, such as eating, playing games, etc.

"One night is two years old, and five more days are divided into two days." On New Year's Eve, the whole family reunites, eats New Year's Eve dinner, chats around the stove, and says goodbye to the old and welcomes the new. This is the custom that prevails in our country on New Year's Eve.

On the evening of New Year's Eve, I will spend the New Year with my family and children watching the New Year, having a drink together, and sharing the joy of family. This is a New Year's custom that the descendants of Yan and Huang still attach great importance to. After the first rooster crows, the new year begins. Men, women and children all dress up for the festival, first wishing the elders of the family New Year and birthday, and then visiting relatives and friends to congratulate each other. At this time, the land of China is shining everywhere. From the first to the fifteenth day of the New Year, people are immersed in a joyous, peaceful and civilized festival atmosphere.

According to historical records, this custom was first used in the Northern and Southern Dynasties. "It is night, when firecrackers are banned from the mountains, the sound is heard outside, the house of scholars sitting around the furnace, and you can't sleep until you reach the end of the day." Later, it gradually prevailed, and by the early Tang Dynasty, Emperor Taizong of Tang Li Shimin wrote the poem "Shou Shimin": "The cold resigns the winter snow, and the warmth brings into the spring breeze."

In ancient times, watching the New Year was also called "illuminating waste." People lit candles or oil lamps and kept vigil all night to symbolize driving away all evil plagues and looking forward to the auspicious New Year. This custom has been passed down to this day.

Until today, the people of our country are still used to watching New Year's Eve, setting off firecrackers outside the house, sitting around the stove or watching TV indoors, and laughing again and again.
